Teresa & Andre Biet
Prior to their founding of Art Incubator, Teresa and Andre Biet supported emerging artists by purchasing their art. Whilst that was, and still remains a meaningful way to assist emerging artists, Art Incubator was established in order to provide a more comprehensive support program.
Key aspects of the Art Incubator program are:
Each year 2 or 3 artists are selected to participate in the program
A cash grant is made to the selected recipients which may be used to assist with the purchase of materials, residency travel, studio rental or other costs.
They are also offered mentoring, particularly in the area of professional practice
A solo exhibition is arranged for each artist in a commercial gallery.
Each grant recipient is required to produce a body of work for their exhibition, with Art Incubator acquiring a work or works to the approximate value of the grant.
Following each exhibition, Art Incubator endeavours to have the acquired pieces exhibited in corporate collections to gain further exposure for the artist
Art Incubator’s initial funding was sufficient to support the program for a five year period. During each five year cycle, the acquired art pieces are sold at a gala art auction dinner, with all of the proceeds returned to the program and used to fund the next five year period. The aim is for Art Incubator to become largely self-funding which underpins it's longevity.
Art Incubator Limited is registered on the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission (ACNC) register so that all donations are tax deductible.
